Many people judge others based on their past and what they did or what happened to them. They might say....
“Why did their parents’ divorce? There’s another Christian family broken. Where was God?”
“That person stayed in an abusive relationship, she or he must have deserved it, or they were too weak to stop it and walk away from the relationship.”
“That person was sexually abused, they must be unworthy of love. Maybe something’s wrong with them.”
“That person had cancer, best stay away from him or her. They’re sick.”
People instantly judge others based on their physical appearance, what happened to them or their family, or the sins they committed in the past, instead of choosing to see how God changed their lives and saved them from their sin.
People instinctively make an observation and title a person based on something that happened to them or how they appear on the outside.
Some titles include,
Fatherless
Unloved
Unworthy
Divorced
Abused
Ugly
Broken
Worthless
Sick
I want to encourage you, that no matter what happened in your life, God can fix it, use it, and change your life. John 15:16 says, “...but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit ...” 1 John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God...” And in Ephesians 1:7, God says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” We also know that we are new creations in Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:7 states, “...But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” So you are free, forgiven, sanctified, and justified. God even says that you are beautiful. “You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.” (Song of Solomon, 4:7). “How handsome you are, my beloved! Oh, how charming!” (Song of Solomon 1:16).
Therefore, God defines you as,
Chosen
Redeemed
Saved by Grace
Loved
Worthy
Special
Beautiful
Handsome
Made Whole
Set Free
Child of the living God,
And so much more!
So, don’t let people, or your past, define who you are today in Jesus. Let God do the talking and listen to His voice. He has changed you, and set you free from the old man, you aren’t that person anymore.
So remember, your past doesn’t define who you are, how God changes you through it, designates who you become in Him.
You are Beautiful, Made Whole, Worthy of God’s loved.
God Bless,
Double Blessing
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that You continually show us who we are in You. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11). "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
