Repentance

Repentance is when we tell God we are sorry for our sins and then stop sinning. Matthew 14:27 states, “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Therefore, as Christians, we should not continue to sin; rather we must put on the new self, created to be like God. Ephesians 4:22-24 states, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

So, seek Jesus, repent and stop sinning. Luke 5:31-32 states, “Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:31-32). So, remember, we are all sinners, and all need a Savior. We need the One who will come along side us and help us. We need the One who loved us so much, that He died for us. We all need Jesus.

The beauty about Jesus is that He loved us so much that he died for us. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus wants us to humble ourselves before Him, repent, stop sinning, and follow Him. “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

Jesus will forgive You, no matter what you’ve done, no matter how guilty you feel, and no matter how many times you have failed. “So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate” (Luke 15:20-24).

So, remember, Jesus is there. You cannot live this life on your own. Rather you need a Savior, Jesus Christ. “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17). So, remember, 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Prayer

Jesus, I pray that You heal the aching hearts of those who are reading this devotional. They know what sin has been in their lives and I pray they surrender it to You. I bind satan off of each one of them and I loose warring angels to fight against all the demonic demons, satans, and gods that are trying to control their lives and keep them from repenting. “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18). “You shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3). So, show them all how much You want them to come to You. I pray that they all humble themselves before You, for it says in James 4:7, “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Lord, lead them to repentance. Help them all stop sinning and receive the promised Holy Spirit. “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:38-39). In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
