Purity should be kept pure in your actions, thoughts, and motives. The Bible says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). Therefore, your purity should show others what God wants.
So when others see you, do they see a pure mind, body, and heart? Are your motives pure toward others? These questions should help you reflect on yourself, in hopes of seeing and noticing your own purity and motives. 1 Corinthians 11:31 states, “But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.” So, let’s look at ourselves and give God every part of our lives, especially the purity within our mind, body, and heart.
The Bible states, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:9-11). So, read the Bible and see what God says about purity. A few scriptures are listed below,
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8).
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral” (Hebrews 13:4).
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5).
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body” (1 Corinthians 6:18).
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
These scriptures reveal that we ought to live pure and holy lives. So, I pray that you all take these scriptures to heart and live by them. For the Bible says, “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4).
Prayer
Jesus, I pray that everyone who reads this post realizes how special purity is. Help them know that purity is in the mind, body, and heart. Deliver them from evil and keep their thoughts pure. Sustain them in you and keep them sexually pure until they marry. May you create in them a pure heart and show them that you are a God who delivers us from all evil. The Bible states, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). In Jesus Mighty Holy name I pray, Amen.
