So many times in life we have the choice to give our heart away or to save it. The Bible says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23). And this can be difficult. We have compassion, we love one another, and we want to tell others about Jesus. But during these times we must guard our heart. We can’t let others pull us down because of our heartfelt emotions. “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Therefore, we need to let God be the only voice in our hearts, telling us when to go and when to stay. And then when it comes time to choose a spouse, let the Holy Spirit do the talking. See what He wants for Your life and never grieve Him, because He truly knows what’s best for us. So, let’s all take a key, lock the door to our heart, and give it to Jesus. Because in the end when your husband or wife comes along, God will give them the spare key.
Don’t rush your life, like so many of us want to. Instead, enjoy the locked seasons, where You and God are the only ones in your heart.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us lock the key to our heart and hand you the key. I know we can trust you to give the spare to the right spouse when it’s your timing and not ours. Help us be content knowing that You and I are the only ones locked in my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. “with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26).
