Love is an action. The Bible says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). Therefore, your actions should reveal your love for others.
The Bible states, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Therefore, love is more than a word, it is an action.
So, when you read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, ponder on whether you have the qualities of love. A few questions to ask yourself include, Are you patient? Are you kind to others? Do you envy or boast? Are you proud? These questions will help you know what qualities you have, along with what qualities Jesus needs to help you work on.
John 15:13 states, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This verse is perfectly shown when Jesus died on the cross for us. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Therefore, reveal love to others through your actions. For the Bible states, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).
So, treat others the way you would want to be treated and have your actions reveal 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. “Love is patient, love is kind.
Prayer
Jesus, I pray that everyone who reads this understands your definition of love. Show them all that love is an action and not just a word. Bless them with the fruit of the Spirit, for you say, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). Therefore, help everyone speak the truth in love and show the world your definition of love through their actions. In Jesus Mighty Holy name, I pray, Amen and Amen.
