God’s ‘Forever’

Writer: Double BlessingDouble Blessing

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 God says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” So when you think about love, it should represent everything God has said in this verse. God’s love is forever, just like marriage should last a lifetime with one person.

Maybe you are struggling with the topic of love today. Maybe the struggle is with Your spouse or one of your other family members. But I want to remind you that God made love to last. Love isn’t just a one-time thing; it should last a lifetime.

“How can this happen?” you may ask yourself.

It happens when we die to our own desires and put someone else’s desires before our own. That doesn’t mean we do something against God though. If someone is in the relationship doing something that you feel isn’t right with God, that doesn’t mean you do it because you’re putting their desires before your own. Rather, you expose them with the Word of God by telling them what God would want. And if you both are true Christians then the problem will be resolved.

Ending Thoughts!

I pray that each one of You has a love that Christ imagined for us. A love that lasts. Don’t lose hope in a marriage that is struggling or another family member who is arguing with you. Rather, trust that God will change both your hearts, so that you are in one accord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I ask that You heal spouse’s marriages and bring families back together. Help them yield to the love You designed, not the love that the world created. Bring us closer to each other through Your love that lasts forever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
