I think many of us dream of falling in love with our future spouse. But we don’t necessarily realize that our relationship with Jesus is supposed to be the same thing. We are supposed to be falling in love with our Creator. That means we get to know Him. We get to see what He likes, and dislikes, and what He has dreamed for our lives. Jesus should be the one we laugh with, smile with, talk with, and dream with. Yet so many of us think that our lives don’t start until we are married to the man or woman we fall in love with. I want to encourage you all including myself that falling in love should start with Jesus. Jesus is romantic. He wants the best for us and he wants to dream with us. He wants to make us laugh and smile. He even wants us talking to Him throughout the day. Falling in love should mean that we can’t help but let our heart go to Jesus, our full entire longing aching heart belongs to Him. “For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.” (Isaiah 54:5). So when you read your Bible, take a moment to realize that You are getting to know Jesus. And then, when Jesus reveals something to you through scripture, realize in that moment that you are falling in love with more of your Creator.
Heavenly Father, I repent for thinking that falling in love only happens on earth between a husband and wife. Help me continually realize that falling in love starts with You first. You created us so that You could have companionship. Help me realize that You are the one I laugh with, cry with, sing with, dream with, and do life with. Show me that I am already truly and freely in love. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
