Faith over Fear

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

Fear is everywhere! It is in our minds, in our societies, in our schools, and in our homes. However, Jesus never wanted us to live in fear. He never wanted us to feel scared every time we walk into a grocery store, and he never wanted the devil to have authority over us. Yet, day after day, we live, breathe, and walk in fear.

This is how the devil controls us! He wants us to be afraid, worried, anxious, and depressed. He wants us to feel alone, abandoned, unworthy, dirty, ashamed, and guilty. Yet the Bible says, “For we live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Now what is faith? “… faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). So, stop looking at this world and start looking to Jesus; for faith conquers fear. “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

Jesus never leaves us, He never abandons us, He never forces us to walk alone. Instead He is beside us at all times. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

So the next time you feel afraid, realize that God goes before you. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8). “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Therefore, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7).

God Bless,

Double Blessing
